If I was any busier doing nothing, I would need a twin to share the burden !
This past week flew by – Tuesday night – dinner on board at Patty and Don’s. Wed. dinner on board Sue and Bob’s along with Betty and Jim, Thurs on Sundance for St. Patty’s with Don and Patty, and last night dinner at Hurricanes with Sue and Bob, and Betty and Jim. Interspersed with our dining about, has been dice playing, yoga, sundowners at sundown, and lots of sanding and varnishing on the boat – well, one of us has been doing lots of sanding and varnishing on the boat.
I decided to do a full corned beef and cabbage dinner in my crock pot for St. Patricks Day. Now this should not have been a problem except Jon took the crock pot off of the boat and left it at the house. This meant that I had to buy another crock pot. This would not really be a problem except I now have two crock pots at the Cape, and now three crock pots in Florida. Jon was getting a bit cranky over how many crock pots we now own, but I cheered him up by suggesting that we could have a crock pot party, and use a different crock pot for each course. He wasn’t smiling about my suggestion, but he is not complaining about the crock pot collection anymore either, so mission accomplished as far as I can tell. I decided not mention to Jon that I ordered another foam roller too because I left my at the house, I guess we can add foam rolling following the crock pot party.
We are getting a rental car this afternoon for a couple of days to do some exploring, and expanding our horizons past the capabilities of the battery bikes – onward and upward…….

3-25-11 – Friday – I think
This borders on embarrassment, but I am actually struggling to recall what we did this week…..
I do know last Sat. that we rented a car and headed to Islamorada, to one of our favorite places – Lora Lei – spelling probably way off but – consider the author….
We planned on one drink, but oh well it was happy hour, then they had a great band, and the menu – ooh la la, and may I say – the tuna nachos – move over sizzle lean….
Sunday – chez automobile was errand day, but the errands faded away as we lunched at the 7 mile grill with Don and Patty, headed to Deer key or Key deer or whatever, then to dinner at Burdines. I know life is full of monumental moments, and do I dare say, the chicken Florentine sandwich at Burdines I had three years ago – altered my world, and it remains an annual must for me.
I have been racking my brain for about 27 seconds for what we did on Monday – other than a Beall's run with Patty, and watching the sun go down, nothing comes to mind……
Tues. – hmph…. definitely yoga, then I know we had a great night out with Sue and Bob at the Marathon yacht club for dinner.
Wed. – oh yes – fabutastic day ! We went on out Ed and left thigh Barbara’s boat with Trina and Joe to the reef. You may wonder why I call Barbara – left thigh Barbara ? Well, that would be because she is cute as a button, and the size of my left thigh…… the plan was for us to met by a parasail boat on the reef, and for Ed and left thigh, and Jon and I to go parasailing. Joe and Trina stood guard on the mother ship, as Ed and Barbara, Jon and I headed out on the parasail boat. It was choppy out, but light winds, so we were excited, or OK, I was excited, Jon, “I don’t like heights’ was tolerating my enthusiasm. I defer here, but I was so excited to take the photos of a life time – I am talking Life magazine here – with my camera that you may recall was purchased after the debacle last year when I spilled the coffee and then the camera was stolen later found at West Palm, when to my delight/dismay, Ed pulls out the cameras “magnificent”, with the 165 foot lense – OK how was I know to know that in his real life outside of the marina life – he was a professional photographer extradonairre ………. I remained undaunted, and armed with my point and shoot camera with a 10 x zoom ready to capture the picture for Life photo of the year.
As I recovered from delusions of photo grandeur, I then began to realize we would be strapped to a rope the diameter of dog leash, sit on the back of the boat, then as the boat drove 200 miles an hour, allow ourselves to to be picked up a huge parachuttey looking thing about 600 miles in the air. Jon made no bones about it, that this was just short of pure terror, but I reassured him by telling him it could not possilbly be worse than free falling from a jet liner with no parachute – he seemed a bit relieved.
Well the whole experience was quite magical , just short of the sensation of flying. They told us you could not possibly lean backward enough to flip over, and Ol’ Jon was not happy with me when I tried to demonstrate to him that I thought I may be true, he also was not happy when he made the mistake of telling me he did not like when the harnesses made you swing back and forth, then I promptly stated to push him resulting in an exaggerated swing side to side, to try to weaken his unrealistic fear that swinging wildly from side to side in a tiny harness, tethered by a dog leash to a boat 600 miles below, could ever end with consequences….
We survived the adventure, followed by Ed and Barbara that also survived, and then we did a dismount back on to the mother ship headed back to Banana Bay. I guess at this point, I should not discount the magical influence of Barbara’s “Bahamas Mama’s” – that I responded to with a sudden belief, that overnight, with no previous experience, I was a world class paddle boarder.
Once we arrived back at Banana Bay, as luck would have it, Ed and Barbara decided to paddle board, and guess what – they had a third board…. By the grace of God, and Ed’s kind assistance, I managed to haul myself up on the paddle board, and after numerous tidal wave type falls off, I managed to get the grove and actually paddled up right, albeit brief. Jon also, unassisted, got up and paddled like a pro. I was feeling quite accomplished, until Ed, put their dog, Maxie on his board, and paddled to Hawaii and back without losing a beat, but I am now am looking forward to breaking my record of 3.3 seconds of standing up on the board next time.
I guess, in the real word, Thurs still follows Wed. which would be AM yoga, followed by girl’s lunch bunch outing, then sunset. This would be no ordinary sunset gathering though as we devised the party of all parties for next Monday – Fun in the sun – weenies and buns….. Thurs. we night we ended up at Hurricane's where we met up with Bonnie and Larry and solved most of the world's problems.....
We have had some really amazing green flashes this year at sunset and Marathon is the only place I have seen the green flashes.
Today is Friday – I guess that makes tomorrow Sat. well, life is good here in Marathon………
