2-25-14
Obviously, I have been a bit remiss in keeping up with our life here in Marathon ! After Lew left, my Mom and Dutch came down over Valentine’s weekend. We spent time in Key West, touring around Marathon, and dining about. I cant recall exactly what happened between 2/15 to 2/21 – something beyond exciting I am sure. This past weekend we enjoyed listening to Donnie and his band playing Fri. PM followed up with a latish night at Hurricane’s listening and dancing to a band that was like a Mumford and Sons cover band. Saturday we were up at 5:30 AM with A 6:00 AM departure to go to Islamorada for the nautical flea market. I have to say it was not much of a nautical flea market as we ended up with two dressed for me, two pairs of shorts for Jon, a mandolin and ginzu knife. We then met up with Jim, Kathy and Kathy’s brother Paul and visited for awhile then went to the No Name for lunch. Sunday we went to a Great Loop party at the Yacht club, and listened/danced to Donnie’s band playing again. (Yes I am still trying to wear Jon down on the Great Loop – he is really making me work hard on this one !) We have taken to playing cribbage every night at cocktail hour. Jon hates to loose – I do mean hate – temper tantrum hate !! This only motivates me to be totally obnoxious complete with me a doing a winning dance and hooting and hollering. Jon’s jugular vein is usually bulging out of his neck by this time, We have been enjoying our next door neighbor’s Dave and Terri. They have developed an appreciation of my winning behavior, which makes it all the sweeter to me ! Our routine has remained pretty much the same – a class in the AM, a swim, lunch a nap, cocktails, dinner then we are so tired we count down the time till 9:00 PM so we can go to bed !

Wed. 3-4-14
Hmmpphhhh…… Well Friday night we went to dinner with Dave and Terri to the Marathon Grill, then to Hurricanes to listen to the Dorfels ! We loved the music and got some dancing in – we actually stayed out past the Marathon midnight ! Jon was suppose to fly back to the Cape on Sat. for a meeting on Monday, but due to threatening weather, they cancelled everything. Sun. we had a marina party for Larry’s birthday, complete with his bar be cue, pot luck sides, and Five Sheets playing ! Jon retired early but I ended staying up with Len, Karyn and Donnie. We listened to Len and Donnie play, singing along at times. Then as we continued to indulge we started writing music lyrics, then discussed philosophy – just one of those nights…. Monday Jon was on a conference call all day, so I scooted off to meet Kathy at Morado Bay in Islamorado for an all afternoon lunch/catch up – lots of laughs and silliness – our usual time together ! Last night we were treated to our second green flash of the week ! Some people live a life time and never see one, how lucky we are !! Yesterday we had a marina meeting and were told by Larry that the marina will be open next year and we all get our contracts again – good news !! The resort has been sold and the new owners will take over in June so we were a bit nervous about what would happen. Sue and Betty have organized a girls night out tomorrow, based on past outings – it should be fun ! Crew is big time into the coconuts this year ! The Dr banned Crew from tennis balls because he was wearing his teeth down, I sure hope his choppers are holding up to the coconuts !!!

Monday March 10 – I think…….
Last Thurs I woke up and decided, hmmpph – what to do today, I think I will get all of my hair cut off – and so I did ! Thursday night was out annual girls night out – of course what happens at the Plaza Grill stays at the Plaza Grill, but it was fun ! We ended up back on Terri’s boat with poor Dave stuck babysitting us. I love Jon’s concern for me. Here is our conversation the following morning - Jon: “What time did you get home ?” Me: “ I am not sure, after 11:00 but before 1:00” Jon – “Well I heard Crew barking and when you did not come on the boat I was worried you had fallen in !” Me – “Yes, Crew was barking at us when we got home - didn’t you see us sitting next door on Terri’s boat ?” Jon – “Oh, I was already in bed so I did not get up to check – I’m glad you didn’t fall in !” Friday Jim and Kathy stopped by so we went to the Dockside for lunch – it took 2 hours again for lunch so we are done with the Dockside this year. Friday night we went to Terri and Dave’s. Terri had prepared enough food to feed 100 people – so we ate and drank well, and enjoyed the company ! Sat. AM we were off to the Marathon Seafood Festival. This is an annual festival here with lots of booths of crafts, wears and etc….., live music playing, and food booths with all kinds of seafood and desserts, and of course – beer and wine !
We found lots of treasures, and ate and drank ourselves full ! Sat. PM off to the pool to listen to Five Sheets, and visit. We had a great time until we were kicked out so they could close the pool down. Just as well with day light savings time kicking in. Yesterday AM off to our last breakfast at the American Legion for this year. It was a Bloody Mary morning followed by the pool and a nap in the afternoon ! We had sunset cocktail at the point, then off to Hurricanes for pizza. We have a bad case of the Keys Disease this year. We have no desire to leave which makes leaving harder.
Finally getting our new eizen glass installed this week, bottom cleaned, and checking all of the systems. Jon has been busy busy sprucing Sundance up with paint and varnish, and she sure is looking pretty ! We are winding down – time to get ready to hit the water highway back home. I had my last Marathon Pilates class today. I have really enjoyed my classes here – it is fun to study with different teachers because everyone, has a different style – and I always learn something new ! I have already made plans for post Pilates fun (think margarita) next year with my instructor Lynda !!
