Sunday Oct. 25, 2015 Fussen Germany
We successfully got out of Munich with our rental a car and arrived in Fussen around 11:00 AM. We walked around town which is a very cute place complete with a medieval town center , palace, monastary and beautiful church We quickly checked into our apartment which is is one of the nicest places we have stayed this trip. It is full of antiques, oriental rugs, high ceilings and only a three minute walk to the town center. We drove to Zugspitz this afternoon which is near the Austrian border. We took a cable car to the top, then a cog rail train back down. It is 9850 feet high, with views miles away of all of the snow covered mountains. We have not seen any mountains since our trip to New Zealand and it is perfect being surrounded by the Alps here.

Today we were up early and drove through Austria to Lichenstein just because I have always wanted to go. Next we drove to Switzerland for lunch on Lake Constance. We got back to Fussen just as the moon was rising. I had to laugh because there is no posted speed limit on the autoban. Initially Jon was complaining about how fast everyone was driving and whizzing by us. Jon now is cruising and was at about 110 MPH today !

Today we spent the first part of the day touring Hohenschwangau castle followed by the Neuschwanstein castle which Disney modeled the castle at DisneyWorld after. Then in the afternoon we drove to Oberammergau which is world famous for the Pasion Play. Tomorrow we head out on the Romantic highway to our first overnight in Rothenburg.
