Isla Mujeres – November 2009
We took a ten day trip to Isla Mujeres which is a tiny island off of the coast from Mexico, about a 45minute water taxi ride form Cancun. We had an easy hour and half flight to Cancun form Orlando. We were met at the airport by our driver. He dropped us off at the ferry, and hour later were checked into our condo. We stayed at Ixchel and the condo is gorgeous – directly on the beach with spectacular sunset views. It is also located on the best swimming beach with cane sugar sand and turquoise water. I do not know how it is possible to do nothing for ten days, but that is about what we did. We did lots of walking, sea glass hunting, swimming, exploring, rented gold cart for cruising several day, and ate at a variety of wonderful restaurants, all an easy walk from our condo. We did not know what to expect on Isla, but have fallen in love. We will probably be back due to the easy jaunt to get here, the beauty, the friendly people, the good eats, and the whole relaxing vibe of the island.
