Sept 14, 15 and 16 2014
We decided to take the ocean route from Baddeck to Halifax. If we drove straight through we would have arrived at 3:00 PM. Half way through the scenic route we decided to head back to the main the highway and still did not get in till 6:00 PM. We arrived in Halifax and were happy to have a corner king suite on the top floor with great views of the water. On the way to Halifax at one point we had to cross a bay on a six car ferry. The operator told us he had met a guy a few weeks back from Cape Cod and then showed us the guy's business card to see if we knew him. Turned out to be our neighbor Peter Hopple. Yesterday we started our day by going to the Rosborough boatbuilders. The owner Bob was there who we had met about three years ago at the Miamiboat show. We had a nice visit with him. Next on to explore Halifax by foot. We walked all along the waterfront then toured the Maritime museum. While at the museum we ran into MTOA friends from Fl. Bill and Barb Reed who were in Nova Scotia on a cruise. We ate a late lunch then toured the Citadel which was next door to our hotel. We did not get back till 6:00 PM so we ended up ordering food to be delivered to our room. We had Pizza and a great sandwich local to Halifax called a Donair which is similar to a Greek gyro. Good thing I did not discover Donairs earlier - it could have become my diet staple. This AM on the road agin to Lunenburg. Our first stop was the a Royal Nova Dcotia Yacht Squadron. Jon was in a race from Marblehead to here for the Silver Jubilee and after 500 miles their boat literally won by about two feet ! We took the scenic route which has been the prettiest of our trip. It was cove after cove, tiny fishing towns full of colorful shacks and boats. We spent quite a bit if time in Peggys Cove which was gorgeous and had some great little shops. We arrived at Lunenburg at 4:30. We are staying in a small four room B and B with the Bluenose docked out our front window. We walked about town, ate dinner and were treated to a beautiful sunset tonight. Part of our B and B is an 11:00 sail tomorrow that we are looking forward to !

Sept. 17,18, 19 20, 2014
We are on the ferry from Yarmouth Nova Scotia to Portland Maine. It is ten hour trip so we got a cabin and we just woke up from a nice afternoon nap. Wed. we had an excellent sail out of Lunenburg on a 48 foot 1944 wooden schooner. Jon ended uo sailing her all the way home and was in 7th heaven. We had a great dinner at the Knot Pub and actually did not want to leave. Lunenburg is a World Unesco site. It is a hilly seaside village full of colorful buildings and smiling locals. Thurs on to Digby. We stayed in suite at the Dockside suites on the waterfront of a harbor. We explored southern Digby Thursday followed by dinner at the Fundy restaurant to celebrate our 21st anniversary. Yesterday we explored north of Digby including Annapolis Royal and Bear River. I kept reminding Jon it was my birthday and allowed him to buy several more gifts for me ! We ate next door at the waterfront Cafe and really had a wonderful birthday dinner. Up at 5:00 AM today to catch the ferry. We drove 3000 miles this trip. We also realized that from Sept. 2013 to this Sept of 2014 we have stayed at 36 different hotels and inns ! My 53rd year was certainly memorable so cheers to my 54th year and 21st year of marriage !
