Well, the big event finally arrived. Jon and I drove to Bristol RI on Wednesday to ease ourselves into all of the celebrating. We stayed at the Bristol harbor Inn which was a wonderful place with a view to match. Lindsay joined Jon and I for dinner and we really enjoyed our last quiet time alone with Lindsay, sharing stories, laughs and even a couple of tears. Thursday was errand day, one is never prepared as they think they are when the actual time arrives. Friday, the bridal party and moms chartered a boat and cruised around Newport Harbor followed by lunch in Newport. The guys went golfing. It was a cold, windy rainy day, but it did not dampen our joy and delight. We met at St. Michaels Church back in Bristol for the rehearsal, then back to Newport for a fabulous rehearsal dinner at the New York yacht Club. Saturday – the big day – spent primping, playing, picture taking, and then the wedding ceremony.
The reception was held at Blithewold Mansion which was a magical setting on the water complete with a perfect sunset. The band kept everyone dancing, and when the band were told they had to stop playing, Lindsay grabbed the microphone and with friends sang a rousing rendition of “Sweet Caroline” to end the night. Lindsay and Scott were a picture perfect couple, and the memories of the whole wedding event will be long remembered and cherished.
