Thurs. 9-13-12 Cowboy Village Cody WY
We actually slept in till 7:00 this AM. We spent this AM at the Buffalo Bill Historical Museum which is a really wonderful museum. After lunch we headed to Meeteetse a tiny town pop. of 326 that Jon had read had a famous bar that Butch Cassidy was arrested at, and recently one of Amercia’s most wanted who escaped from an Arizona prison was also arrested at. The owner was on property who turned out to be named Jim Blake, and we decided probably a relative. He told us up to 3 weeks ago there were 59 bullet holes in the bar, but now there are 60 because two cowboys did not like what a visitors hat said, so they made him stand up, hold his hat out so they could shoot the hat, and one of the bullets lodged in the wall. So proud of those Blakes !! We ended up spending about an hour there talking to Jim, then headed to a small museum across the street and then to a chocolatier. Headed back to Cody then stopped a western boot store. Out to the Powder Horn tonight for dinner and then up on the road at 6:00AM for a very long round about trip to Hill City South Dakota tomorrow.
