Everyone arrived yesterday and to my knowledge everyone is happy with resort and cabins, so time to relax ! The weather is predicted to be rainy and windy for the next three or four days. I found out that if Iwant to dive, because I am not open water certified, I have to pay for a private instructor each time I dive. It is about the same price for me to become open water certified, so that is what I am going to do. I am hopeful the weather will clear up Around Tues. so I have arranged to wrap up on Tues and Wed. The resort is really beautiful. It is set up with everything on the the mainland except for our rooms, the pool and pool bar which are on a on island that we access by a boat shuttle. The deluxe cabins are all huge with big covered porches on the front, chairs and a table, and 2 hammocks. After we were settled in, I waited for everyone to get in. Once all in we met at the pool bar for happy hour, then had dinner. With no TV, and getting up around 6:00 every morning, we were back in room, read for a bit and lights out around 9:30 !
We had our dive orientation at 7:30 AM today, then snorkeling orientation at 8:30 AM. We had Jon changed to snorkeling so he can go on some excursions and he will get a dolphin encounter package. After lunch, Kathy, Jana Jon And I took the boat shuttle to a little island across from our rooms so Jon could check out if he would be able to get fins on and snorkel. There was a lot of wind and current, and a rocky rough entry but he did great. It started to pour while we're out so we did not have good visibility. Jon did really well, so we will try to get some boat snorkeling trips in this week. Sally had the gang over for cocktails, then we went to dinner. It is 8:30 PM now and my eyes are closing zzzzzzzz.....

Still raining...... Today was Linda's birthday so we all amused ourselves all day singing happy birthday to her. Jon and I had great snorkel back at the little island across from us. Tonight there was a fun band at the bar, so we ate, drank and danced, all my favorite things. Tomorrow AM I start classes for my open water certification.

Just sitting here killing time till I go catch the boat for my two final open water dives. I spent yesterday morning in the classroom finishing my written exams. Yesterday afternoon I was in the pool in the pouring rain finishing my confined water skills. I am belly churning nervous and I would be lying if I said I will not be relieved to get these last two dives done ! 9:00PM
I am done, now an open water certified diver !! It was not easy for me, but I feel accomplished that I stuck to it, and finished ! I was on dive boat with Jim, Kathy, Mike and Jana. There were too many large swells on this side of the island, so they bussed up to meet the dive boats on the east side. The first dive was calm with great visibibility but I was too wrapped up in trying to finish my skills without drinking half the ocean or dying of exhaustion. We sat on the boat for about an hour then moved to our second dive spot. It was starting to really blow and storm, so visibility was down. I finished of my underwater navigation by using compass, then I was finally able to relax and just swim around. It was quite an aquarium. So I finished my two 60 foot dives and have lived to celebrate another cocktail hour. The rest of our group spent the day touring the island with Cleve and by all accounts enjoyed it as mush as we did !!
Tonight was a party with a band, and dancing by the local Garafuna. It was quite entertaining !! Hard to believe only two nights left, the time really has skyrocketed by !!

We had picture perfect weather today! We all took a bus to an island, Maya Caye on the other side of Roatan also owned by Anthony's Key resort. We spent about three hours there, snorkeling, a picnic/ bar be que lunch, and explored the island which also had rescued wild life and birds. We got back and Jon took part of the dolphin encounter which was to watch. We then went to Sally's for cocktails, then dinner. An actual busy and fantastic day !

Actually can believe that today is our last day. We went to see the hyperbaric chamber that actually had two men in it. We went to the West End with Jim and Kathy and had a fun afternoon. Kathy and I then got massages back at the resort. Sunset was at 5:30 that we watched off of our porch with Mike and Jana. We hit happy hour at the bar with everyone, then our final dinner. I feel we have been very busy doing nothing all week, but everyone was fantastic to travel with, and it was a great memory making trip !
